Celebrating Roth Foundation Alumna Sasha Dugdale’s Ongoing Literary Impact

The Lois Roth Foundation is proud to celebrate the continued literary achievement of our MLA-Roth Translation awardee Sasha Dugdale who has been honored with the 2025 Runciman Award for The Strongbox, a powerful poetic reflection on mythology, war, and modern upheaval.

Established in 1986, the Runciman Award honors books that promote wider understanding of Greek culture, history, and contributions to civilization. It is sponsored by the Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation and the A.G. Leventis Foundation.

Accepting the award, Dugdale shared:

“In The Strongbox, I considered how Greek mythologies are dynamic and still shape our perception of civilization and culture, of war and difference. I used those mythologies to explore the effects and implications of the very modern tragedies we were witnessing.”

We celebrate Sasha’s incredible accomplishment and look forward to the next chapter in her literary journey.
